If you don't care what show you can get tickets to, check out the TKTS booth in Times Square. If you want to try to get discount tickets ahead of time, there are websites with discount codes. You have to get a login for the website, but it is free.

stubhub.com, has good prices for last minute tickets, theres also a ticket booth in the heart of times square, i suggest stubhub for your best selection of seats, etc.

There is a kiosk in Times Square where you can buy last minute tickets to various Broadway Shows that are not sold out.It's very popular with the locals and is excellent if you don't have a particular show in mind and are flexible.
